Story

Following on from last years John O'Groats to Lands End ride we have now set a new cycling challenge in memory of Beth and to raise more money for her Christie fund.................. The Mighty Pyrenees!!!! The Ride will start on Saturday 29th September 2012 in Girona, Spain from where we will make out way over the mighty Pyrenees to France. It will take over 2 and a half days of climbing to reach the final peak of the Pyrenees before an 80 mile downhill stretch to Carcassone in France. From here we will head east to the coast and then south crossing the boarder into Spain on the challenging, rugged coast road until we hit Barcelona and our finishing point. Taking part....... From Manchester is me Si Lewis, Paul Cookson & Chris Taylor From London Steve Hassall, Sam Crump & Andy Doak. Some ride stats......... * The ride is around 450 miles in total and we will complete this in 6 days, averaging 75 miles per day. * At the highest point on the ride we will hit 1788mtrs in altitude, around 5800feet. * By the end we would of ascended a total of 5833mtrs, which is 2/3rds of the way up Mount Everest! For anyone thats ever ridden up a hill before you will know how challenging is it, to climb over the Pyrenees is definately worth a few quid in sponsorship all for such a good cause. You can follow our progress everyday, see some pictorial evidence of our ride and leave some comments at www.biking4beth.blogspot.co.uk Please note all expenses in this ride will be covered by ourselves and every pound in sponsorship goes straight to The Christie's to support the amazing work they do in caring for people affected by cancer and researching treatments, thanks in anticipation of your support x x x
